A secret bot army is boosting Mamdani on X, and it seems to be coming from City Hall - exclusive

Dozens, possibly hundreds, of suspected bot accounts on the social media platform X are actively amplifying content from New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and his political allies. The World Zionist Organization (WZO) presented data to The Jerusalem Post alleging that these accounts exhibit unusual activity patterns and can be traced to City Hall's IP infrastructure.

The WZO's Department for Combating Antisemitism, which monitors online antisemitism, collected data including IP address analysis and mapping of activity patterns. Cyber experts consulted by the Post stated they were "100% sure" the IP addresses linked to City Hall. However, the investigation did not establish who controlled the accounts or if city officials directed their activity.

Analysts identified accounts with characteristics consistent with bot behavior, such as hundreds of tweets and shares per day, high rates of repeated posts, newly created profiles, and automated-sounding usernames. Some accounts reportedly posted over 500 tweets daily, with extreme cases exceeding 900, a rate difficult to attribute to normal human activity. For example, @SnoopyLima13 allegedly recorded 955 tweets daily with 100% repeated sharing.

While unusual activity alone does not confirm bot operation, the WZO's report highlights a consistent amplification of content from Mayor Mamdani's official account, city accounts, and those of his political allies. The WZO's findings are part of its broader efforts to combat online antisemitism.
