Abia State Governor Alex Otti delivered a broadcast marking the state's 35th anniversary, expressing profound gratitude to God and congratulating the people on this significant milestone. Otti emphasized that the state's joy is rooted in the conviction that a "new epoch" has arrived, urging citizens to seize opportunities to build a better world for future generations.

The governor paid tribute to the state's founding father, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, its first democratically elected governor, and acknowledged the efforts of his predecessors, including Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, and various military administrators. He credited their investments in infrastructure and commitment to public order for shaping the state's economic and social experiences during its formative years.

Otti recalled that Abia State was created by the Military Administration of General Ibrahim Babangida following years of intense agitations by a diverse group of leaders. He noted that Babangida himself conveyed his best wishes to the people of Abia. The governor stressed that the state's emergence was not a matter of chance but the result of dedicated efforts and convergence of visionaries.
