Abia Governor Orders Immediate Payment of NYSC Allowances

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has mandated the swift implementation of approved state allowances for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state. The governor voiced his dissatisfaction with the delays, noting that the allowances had been approved and budgeted for. During a meeting with the new NYSC State Coordinator, Alhaji Yunusa Tanimu, at the Government House in Umuahia, Otti instructed the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development to expedite the process and remove any administrative hurdles. "I approved the allowance and made provision for it. If it has not been implemented, then it defeats the purpose. Whatever the problem is should be resolved immediately," Otti stated. The NYSC coordinator had earlier appealed for the prompt payment and acknowledged the state government's ongoing support, including renovations at the NYSC Orientation Camp and improved welfare for corps members. Governor Otti reiterated his administration's dedication to the welfare of corps members, recognizing their significant contributions to the state's education and healthcare sectors.
