Abia PDP candidate promises jobs, agricultural support for youth

Kelechi Anosike, the Peoples Democratic Party's governorship candidate in Abia State, has outlined a vision for his potential administration, placing youth development and agriculture at its core.

Speaking at the Ohuhu Youth Day event, Anosike stressed that any government neglecting youth programs misunderstands the future, as young people are integral to societal progress. He asserted that allowing young people to contribute meaningfully is essential for the state's advancement.

Any government that does not have a programme for the youths does not understand the future because the youths are the future.

Anosike identified agriculture as a key sector for job creation and ensuring food security in Abia. He introduced 'Operation Feed Abia,' a policy designed to engage youths in farming. He also pledged to create opportunities for Abia's youth to work for international companies in Asia and Europe through virtual employment, establishing an 'Abia Global Opportunity Agency' to facilitate this.

If elected, we will go beyond this. We intend to start programmes whereby even if you are in any part of Abia State, you can work in companies in Asia or Europe through what we call the Abia Global Opportunity Agency.

He encouraged the Ohuhu youth to view his 2027 governorship bid as a collective project and promised his support for their ongoing initiatives. The candidate also made a N1 million donation to support the youth group's agricultural program.

During the event, Anosike received a Visionary Leadership Award from the Ohuhu Youth Wing of the Ohuhu Welfare Union, presented by traditional ruler Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu. The Chairman of the event, Chief Ugochukwu Edozie, praised the youth leadership's vision, while the President of the Ohuhu Welfare Union Youth Wing, Chief Uchenna Iheanacho, highlighted the organization's past empowerment of over 300 individuals and outlined future needs totaling N75 million for projects including farming loans, anti-drug campaigns, and ICT training.
