Abia woman allegedly stabs sleeping husband to death

Tragedy struck the community of Umuokereke Ngwa in Abia State when a woman, identified as Innocent Serah, allegedly stabbed her husband, Innocent Nwaoji, to death. The shocking incident reportedly occurred Saturday night while the husband was asleep.

Residents of the community expressed disbelief and shock following the event. Details surrounding the alleged stabbing remain unclear, but a community member, David Amaraizu, confirmed the incident. The couple had reportedly been married for only about eight months, having tied the knot in December 2025, making the alleged crime even more bewildering.

Innocent Serah has been arrested and is currently in police custody. The body of the deceased has been deposited at a morgue for further procedures. The Police Public Relations Officer in Abia State, Maureen Chinaka, stated that she would provide a response after further inquiry, but an official statement was still pending at the time of reporting.

This incident echoes a similar case in February 2026, where the Abia State Police Command arrested a woman in Umuahia for allegedly stabbing her husband, an Immigration officer, to death over infidelity allegations. The Commissioner of Police at the time, Danladi Isa, confirmed the arrest and ongoing interrogation.
