Borno man arrested for impersonating EFCC official, defrauding public of N3m

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives in Maiduguri, Borno State, have apprehended Nuhu Dahiru for allegedly impersonating an EFCC official and defrauding the public of N3 million. The arrest followed credible intelligence indicating Dahiru had been using his false identity to solicit funds from unsuspecting individuals.

Operatives of the Maiduguri Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested one Nuhu Dahiru for impersonation and obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N3,000,000.00.

The EFCC stated that Dahiru was apprehended at Tashan Bama, along Bama Road, in Maiduguri. The commission recovered the full sum of N3 million from the suspect at the point of arrest. This action is part of the EFCC's ongoing efforts to combat fraudulent activities and protect citizens from individuals who exploit the commission's name for financial crimes.

The suspect was arrested in Tashan Bama, along Bama Road, Maiduguri, Borno State, following credible intelligence indicating that he had been parading himself as an officer of the EFCC, and thereby defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.

Dahiru is currently in police custody and will face prosecution once the investigation is complete. The EFCC emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards such fraudulent acts and assured the public of continued efforts to bring perpetrators to justice.
