Acacia forest fire in Đắk Lắk damages 5.5 hectares

A forest fire broke out on August 26, 2026, in the Hòn Diêu area of Đức Bình commune, Đắk Lắk province, Vietnam, resulting in damage to approximately 5.5 hectares of acacia trees. The blaze occurred in sub-zone V7.4, lot 346, under conditions of strong winds that threatened to spread the fire rapidly.

Upon receiving notification, the Đức Bình Commune People's Committee mobilized local forces, including the commune police, the military command, and a disaster prevention team, to work alongside residents. Their coordinated efforts focused on creating firebreaks and extinguishing the flames.

Thanks to the swift and collaborative response from these forces and the local community, the fire was completely brought under control by noon on the same day. This rapid containment prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent areas.

Initial assessments by the Đức Bình Commune People's Committee indicate that the fire destroyed 1.5 hectares of 4-5 year old acacia trees, 1 hectare of 1 year old trees, and 3 hectares of recently harvested acacia. Authorities are continuing to inspect the site to determine the full extent of the damage and are monitoring surrounding areas for any signs of reignition.
