Acahay: Search for three children taken to a police station and then reported missing

An urgent search is underway in Acahay, Paraguay, for three young children who vanished after being taken to a local police station. The Public Defender's Office for Children and Adolescents in Quiindy requested the immediate activation of search and protection protocols for the minors.

The children, identified as Alex Cabral (11), Alberto Cabral (10), and Josías Alberto Caballero Bordón (10), were reportedly living in Ypané. According to official reports, a police patrol from the Acahay police station responded to a neighbor's complaint about the children wandering in the street and throwing stones at houses. The children were subsequently taken to the police station.

The request was presented by public defender Gloria Beatriz Torres Ruiz to the National Police's Search and Localization Department, headed by commissioner Felipe Figueredo, after receiving information about the disappearance of the minors Alex Cabral (11), Alberto Cabral (10), and Josías Alberto Caballero Bordón (10).

When relatives arrived at the police station to pick up the children, they were informed that the minors were no longer there. The sister of two of the children, who resides in Acahay, confirmed she was told the children were not at the station.

According to the Acahay police report, the children were allegedly released to the head of Codeni (Code for Children and Adolescents) in Acahay, Adriana Villalba. However, Villalba denied this, stating she signed the police report without reading it carefully. Given this discrepancy, the public defender deemed the situation extremely serious and urged the National Police to initiate immediate search mechanisms for the minors.

According to the report of the Acahay Police Station, the three children had allegedly been picked up by the head of Codeni of Acahay, Adriana Villalba. However, the official denied this version, despite being listed as a signatory to the procedure report. Villalba stated that she signed the police document without reading it carefully.
