Access to Zócalo Fan Fest Improves as Fencing is Removed

Mexico City has eased access to the FIFA Fan Fest in the Zócalo by removing some of the perimeter fencing that previously created a bottleneck.

The barriers were taken down on the corner of Tacuba and 5 de Mayo streets, a primary entry point for fans. This adjustment has led to a more fluid and rapid ingress for attendees.

Despite the removal of some fencing, security protocols remain in effect. Attendees must still pass through filters for backpack and bag inspections. The rules prohibit the entry of outside food and alcoholic beverages, although water bottles are allowed provided their labels and caps are removed.

Additional fencing was also removed from the corner of 16 de Septiembre street, where tables have been set up for bag checks. Some of the relocated fencing has been placed on the sidewalk of 5 de Febrero street. Police presence from the Secretariat of Citizen Security of the capital is visible at various access points, including the 20 de Noviembre street entrance.

The area also saw the presence of official vehicles, including an ambulance from the Red Cross parked near the capital's government offices and vehicles from the Attorney General's Office of Justice near the Metropolitan Cathedral. A Secretariat of Citizen Security patrol car was also stationed in the vicinity.
