Accident: Couple Trapped in Car and Seriously Injured

A serious accident on the B19 in the Main-Tauber district has left an elderly couple severely injured after their vehicle left the roadway. Firefighters were required to extricate the 87-year-old woman and her 82-year-old husband from their car. The husband was transported by Bundeswehr helicopter to a clinic, as other rescue helicopters were reportedly unavailable at the time.

According to police, the driver, for reasons yet to be determined, veered off the road, driving across a meadow before crashing into a woodpile and overturning. The incident required the response of 65 rescue personnel and police officers. The B19 was consequently closed for about an hour, and the estimated damage to the vehicle and property amounts to around 12,000 euros.
