Accident on Terni-Rieti highway: victims include bus driver and 5 tourists

Six people died in a tragic accident on the Terni-Rieti state highway near Lake Ventina, on the border between Lazio and Umbria. The collision involved a camper van and a shuttle bus transporting tourists to the Marmore Waterfall.

The victims include Giampiero Colasanti, 68, and Daniela Bellanca, 59, a couple from Narni who were in the camper van returning from a biker rally. Federico Romualdi, 49, the driver of the shuttle bus, also perished in the crash. Among the bus passengers who died were Stefania Laurenzi, 49, from Rome, Paolo Cosci, 51, from Massa, and his partner, also 51, Graziella Baldini, also from Massa.

In addition to the fatalities, 34 individuals sustained injuries. Three of the injured are in critical condition, with one 58-year-old man from Lazio in desperate condition at the University Hospital of Perugia. He suffered a severe head trauma and remains in intensive care under reserved prognosis, on mechanical ventilation and sedation.

Two people remain in intensive care at the hospital in Terni, while three others are under observation, and four have been discharged. Psychological support services have been activated for the families of the critically injured patient in Perugia. The final death toll may still rise as the situation remains critical for some of the injured.
