Accord Party denies endorsing Tinubu, backs Adeleke for Osun poll

The Accord Party has officially refuted claims of endorsing President Bola Tinubu, asserting its unwavering commitment to supporting Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke for the upcoming 2027 governorship election. National Chairman Maxwell Mgbudem clarified that any such endorsement would be publicly announced through official channels, emphasizing that Governor Adeleke remains the party's chosen candidate.

There is nothing like that. This is a political party and Governor Adeleke is our candidate. If there is any such endorsement, I assure you that the media will be the first to know. It will come from here.

This statement serves to quell speculation arising from a controversial billboard in Iwo, Osun State, which displayed images of both President Tinubu and Governor Adeleke. While the All Progressives Congress (APC) accused Adeleke of leveraging the President's image, the governor's camp has denied the allegation. The Accord Party, through its chairman, expressed strong confidence in Adeleke's re-election prospects, citing his "wonderful" performance in the state and the populace's eagerness to vote for him again.

On Governor Adeleke, everybody in this country knows he has done wonderfully well in the state. And the people are eager to vote for him again.

Mgbudem also addressed internal party matters, dismissing reports of a leadership crisis or factions within the Accord Party. He affirmed that there are no ongoing disputes or court orders that would affect the party's operations or INEC's compliance. The party's focus remains firmly on consolidating its position and ensuring Adeleke's victory in the next gubernatorial poll, underscoring their dedication to the governor's mandate.
