Accumulated over 25 reports for robbery and weapons: 'Los Feroces de Camaná' fall after intense pursuit in Arequipa

Police in Arequipa arrested five suspected members of the criminal group "Los Feroces de Camaná" early Sunday morning in the La Punta Vieja settlement, Camaná province. The operation followed a GPS tracking of a stolen vehicle, which led officers to the suspects.

As officers approached, three individuals attempted to flee on foot into a building, while the driver and co-pilot were also detained. During the intervention, the stolen vehicle was recovered, along with firearms, ammunition, suspected narcotics, communication devices, and other items. According to police, the arrested individuals collectively had more than 25 records linked to aggravated robbery, illegal possession of weapons, drug trafficking, and other offenses.

The seized items included three firearms, ammunition, 48 packets of suspected cocaine paste, and a bag of marijuana. Two Motorola communication radios, a GPS jammer, two ski masks, gloves, and five cell phones were also confiscated. Police are investigating the group's potential involvement in armed assaults, kidnappings, and vehicle thefts in Pucchún and Camaná, including a robbery on August 17th in Punta Colorada.

The five detainees and all confiscated items have been handed over to the Public Ministry for further investigation.
