Aceh Barat BPBD Extinguishes Land Fire Near Settlements in Meurebo

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Aceh Barat has successfully controlled a land fire that erupted near residential areas in Meurebo, Aceh, Indonesia. Personnel were deployed on Friday afternoon to combat the blaze in Gunong Kleng village, which had approached dangerously close to homes.

Firefighters encountered significant challenges during the operation, primarily a scarcity of water sources in the vicinity of the fire. Strong winds also hampered their efforts to contain the flames. To overcome these obstacles, the BPBD utilized multiple water tanker units and a fire engine to support the suppression efforts and localize the fire more rapidly.

While no casualties were reported, the fire resulted in damage to the land's vegetation and produced thick smoke that affected visibility and air quality for nearby residents and road users. The exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the authorities. The affected area spanned approximately 0.5 hectares. The firefighting operation involved a joint effort from BPBD personnel, local fire departments, the TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces), Polri (Indonesian National Police), and the local community.
