Activists Launch 'Justice Vigil' Demanding Accountability for Fatal Dilovası Factory Incident

In Gebze and Ankara, activists have initiated a "Justice Vigil" to demand accountability for a fatal factory incident in Dilovası that claimed the lives of seven workers, three of whom were children. The vigil, held on November 8, 2025, aims to bring to light the negligence that led to the tragedy at the Ravive Kozmetik Factory.

During a joint press conference preceding the vigil, participants carried signs with slogans such as "Justice for Dilovası, for earthquake cases, for Akbelen, for Gayrettepe, for İliç, for Kartalkaya," and "Law protects the victim, not the perpetrator." Umut-Sen member Şevval Sarı read a statement emphasizing that the Dilovası incident is not an isolated event. The statement highlighted a chain of negligence leading to other fatal accidents, including the Çorlu train crash, earthquake victims, and the Kartalkaya fire, suggesting a systemic disregard for human life in favor of profit.

The activists argue that such conditions are not accidental but are created by state officials who prioritize the welfare of employers and businesses over the safety of citizens. They pointed to the lack of effective punishment in similar cases across Turkey and the failure of public officials to fulfill their oversight duties. The vigil seeks to hold all responsible parties accountable, including public officials, and calls for justice to prevent future "massacres."
