Actor Juan Ferrara Celebrates 2 Years of Play, Announces Retirement

Actor Juan Ferrara recently marked a significant milestone, celebrating two years of the acclaimed play "No te vayas sin decir adiós" on stage. The event, held on a Saturday night, was filled with warmth, laughter, and expressions of admiration for Ferrara's extensive career. Family, friends, and fans gathered to honor the occasion.

Producer Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo, who was also Ferrara's brother-in-law at one point, lauded the actor's remarkable longevity. "In Mexico, a very strange phenomenon occurred... very few stand out as leading actors," Ortiz de Pinedo remarked, highlighting Ferrara's sustained popularity and success across theater, television, and film for six decades. He emphasized that such a sustained career at the forefront is a rare achievement.

Ferrara, visibly moved by the tributes, expressed his gratitude. "It's wonderful, after so many years in theater, to receive these ovations; they say applause is an actor's food, and I am satiated," he shared. At 80 years old and with 60 years in the industry, Ferrara announced his decision to retire from performing after this play. He stated a need to pursue "other things" but definitively ruled out returning to television or cinema, feeling that actors in their senior years often become mere "ornaments" in stories and that current entertainment trends do not offer him a suitable space.

The success of "No te vayas sin decir adiós" over the past two years was attributed by Ortiz de Pinedo to the audience's consistent support, with many viewers returning multiple times. He noted that the play's layered narrative allows for multiple interpretations, revealing new messages or details with each viewing. The cast, including Yuliana Peniche and José Manuel Lechuga, along with media personality Shanik Berman as the event's godmother, joined Ferrara in celebrating the successful run.
