Actor Yoo Ah-in to return in new film by 'Exhuma' director after drug conviction

Actor Yoo Ah-in is set to make his screen comeback in "The Imposter," a new film directed by Jang Jae-hyun, known for the hit movie "Exhuma." This marks Yoo's first major acting role in three years, following his suspended sentence for habitual drug use.

The production company NEW released details of the film's script reading, announcing the main cast. "The Imposter" is described as a mystery occult thriller where an unidentified contract killer is tasked by a priest to pursue a mysterious cult. Yoo Ah-in will play the contract killer, with Lee Sung-min cast as the priest. The ensemble cast also includes Lee Joon-hyuk, Yoon Kyung-ho, Choi Hyun-wook, and Do Yi.

Yoo Ah-in's return comes after his career was put on hold due to charges of habitual propofol use in 2023. He had withdrawn from the Netflix series "Hellbound" Season 2, and films he had already completed, such as "The Match" and "High Five," faced delayed releases before finally coming out last year.

In October of the previous year, Yoo was convicted of violating drug laws and received a one-year prison sentence, suspended for two years, along with a fine. "The Imposter" is slated to begin filming this month, with a targeted release in two years.
