Actress Alice Thoen celebrates 102nd birthday: 'Just be happy'

Actress Alice Thoen is celebrating her 102nd birthday, marking her as the oldest actress in Belgium. She continues to live independently in her apartment in the center of Dilbeek, expressing a strong will to keep going as long as she is able.

So long as I don't fall apart, I'll keep going.

Thoen, who starred in the iconic youth series 'Kapitein Zeppos' and later appeared in numerous other films and TV series like 'Wittekerke,' 'FC De Kampioenen,' and 'Thuis,' remains active despite the challenges of aging. While performing on stage is difficult, she recently performed songs and poems in Spanish with her guitarist Jean. She notes that while singing and talking are still manageable, her mobility has decreased, requiring her to use support.

Despite the physical limitations, Thoen cherishes her apartment, calling it her "kingdom." She receives some help but manages most chores herself, surrounded by her memories and frequent visits from friends. She finds happiness in her current life and acknowledges the eventual end of her life but resolves to "keep going" as long as she is physically able. Thoen has been an honorary citizen of Dilbeek since 2010.
