Actress Hwang Jung-eum Resumes Instagram Activity After Embezzlement Probation Ruling

Actress Hwang Jung-eum has returned to social media activity following a legal case concerning embezzlement charges. She posted a message on Instagram, her first public communication in a significant period, stating, "Hello. It's Jung-eum. It's been a really long time since I've greeted you." She expressed gratitude for each day and shared that she has been steadily preparing for a new chapter.

Hwang added, "I would be truly grateful if you watch over me and send warm support. I am always thankful." In the shared photo, she is seen looking at the camera in a sleeveless outfit. The actress had been indicted in 2022 for allegedly embezzling over 4.34 billion won from Hunminjeongeum Entertainment, an agency in which she held a 100% stake. She admitted to investing approximately 4.2 billion won of the agency's funds into virtual assets.

Last year, Hwang Jung-eum fully repaid the embezzled amount between May and June. The court handed down a sentence of two years in prison, suspended for four years, in September. As neither Hwang nor the prosecution appealed the ruling, the judgment became final. After refraining from activities for about a year, she launched her personal YouTube channel in May of this year, marking the beginning of her return to public life.
