Actress Joan Cusack Returns to Red Carpet After 11 Years for 'Toy Story 5' Promotion

Joan Cusack, a celebrated star of the 80s and 90s, has made a cautious return to the public eye after an 11-year hiatus from Hollywood. The 63-year-old actress graced the red carpet for the promotion of the new film 'Toy Story 5', marking her first such appearance in over a decade.

Cusack, who is reprising her voice role as the cowgirl Jessie in the upcoming Disney and Pixar animated sequel, spoke about her life away from the cameras. She has dedicated her time to her family, including her husband Richard Burke, whom she married in 1996, and their sons Dylan John, 28, and Miles, 25. The family resides in Chicago, a deliberate choice to live a more ordinary life away from the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles.

"I am honored to have worked in this industry for so long," Cusack stated at the 'Toy Story 5' premiere. "But it's also wonderful to live your life, raise your children, be in Chicago, and be a regular person. That is invaluable in its own way." She noted that most films don't require grand red carpet events unless they are action blockbusters.

Beyond her film career, Cusack owns a gift shop in Chicago called 'Judy Maxwell Home,' named after Barbra Streisand's character in the 1972 film 'What's Up, Doc?'. The shop is described as a curated collection of charming and quirky home items, perfect for last-minute gifts. Cusack's notable acting credits include Oscar-nominated roles in 'Working Girl' (1988) and 'In & Out' (1997), as well as appearances in 'The Addams Family Values' (1993), 'School of Rock' (2003), and the Emmy-winning series 'Shameless'. Her last acting role before this break was in the 2019 Netflix holiday film 'Let It Snow'.
