Additional compensation offered for prolonged power outages in Lithuania

Lithuanian residents who endured prolonged power outages may soon receive additional compensation. The proposed compensation is specifically for those who were without electricity for more than 72 hours.

Eligible individuals could receive up to 200 euros. This financial aid is intended to cover direct losses incurred due to the outage. Examples include the cost of spoiled food, expenses for temporary accommodation, and costs associated with purchasing, renting, or fueling a generator. Other necessary expenses may also be compensated if properly documented.

The electricity provider, ESO, is tasked with preparing a clear procedure for this compensation by Wednesday morning. The company will also provide detailed information to residents explaining the eligibility criteria, required documentation, and the application process for the compensation.
