Adeleke alleges extrajudicial killings, urges Tinubu intervention

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has directly appealed to President Bola Tinubu to address what he described as a wave of extrajudicial killings and police bias plaguing the state. Speaking at a campaign rally, Adeleke implored the president to act as a father figure and protect the residents of Osun.

President Bola Tinubu, something is happening in Osun that you have not moved to put an end to. They are killing our people. You are the President; you are the father for all of us. Osun has said they won’t allow rigging. There won’t be rigging in Osun. Remember what happened in 1983. It started in Yorubaland. When they cheated Bola Ige and Ajasin. Osun will not agree. We want a free and fair election. President Tinubu, I am passing this message to you. We have endorsed you; why are they still killing us?

Adeleke reminded President Tinubu of his party's endorsement for his re-election in 2027, emphasizing their political alliance. They are killing our people," the governor stated, questioning why they continue to suffer despite the endorsement.

The governor expressed strong concerns about the neutrality of the police force, accusing them of taking sides in the state's political crises. He warned against a repeat of the electoral turmoil that gripped the region after the 1983 general elections, urging all stakeholders to prevent such a scenario. "The police are compromised. I am telling President Tinubu today. I am the chief security officer of Osun State," Adeleke declared.

Earlier on Monday, Adeleke addressed civil servants and pensioners, expressing confidence in his support base and urging voters to participate courageously. Despite his strong stance against rigging, he reiterated his doubts about police impartiality, highlighting the ongoing political tensions in the state.
