Adeleke belongs to us, while Tinubu owns us all – Wike

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has declared that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke belongs to his political camp, while emphasizing that all of them ultimately belong to President Bola Tinubu. Wike made these statements on Friday while speaking with journalists during an inspection exercise in Abuja, addressing Adeleke's recent visits to him and President Tinubu amidst ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

I told you that the 2027 election would be the most in-depth election. I have told ADC who are talking about, oh, they helped Adeleke to win, they just wanted to go ahead and harvest what they never planted, you know.

The FCT minister projected that the 2027 presidential election would feature extensive political alliances, and he insisted that more politicians and groups would join the coalition backing Tinubu. Wike addressed claims by some members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) attempting to take credit for Adeleke's electoral victory, arguing that the governor is now fully aligned with Tinubu. "So, Adeleke is fully supporting Mr President," Wike stated.

Wike added that the political realignment process is still unfolding and urged Nigerians to anticipate further movements of political figures across party lines in the coming weeks. He reiterated his earlier assertion that the internal crises within major opposition parties have significantly weakened their ability to mount a formidable challenge against the President in 2027. Wike dismissed suggestions that the 2027 political contest has already been settled, stating, "You will see more. And that’s why I said, the election is not concluded. It’s not concluded."

Concluding his remarks, Wike took a swipe at former presidential candidate Dele Momodu regarding his reported support for the ADC and Adeleke. Wike asserted Adeleke's allegiance to his political camp and their collective loyalty to Tinubu, stating, "Adeleke belongs to us, and we all belong to Mr President. Thank you, brother." Wike's comments followed Adeleke's visits to him in Abuja and to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, where Adeleke presented his Certificate of Return.
