Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared Friday a work-free day for public service employees, aiming to facilitate their participation in the state's governorship election scheduled for Saturday. The announcement, conveyed through a circular from Head of Service Ayanleye Aina, applies to all categories of workers except those in emergency and essential duties.

Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared Friday 14th of August as work-free, to allow public service workers to participate in the Saturday governorship election.

The governor's decision is intended to give workers time to travel to their voting locations and prepare to exercise their civic duty. This move underscores the administration's focus on ensuring broad participation in the electoral process.

The time for action has come. As formal workers at state establishments, I task you to mobilise informal workers, artisans and professional bodies.

In a pre-election message to the workers, Governor Adeleke called for a massive turnout and urged them to defend their votes to ensure the continuity of good governance in the state. He highlighted the supportive relationship between his administration and the state's labor force, praising their steadfastness.

We must remain strong in defence of our constitutional rights to vote and be voted for.

Adeleke encouraged workers to mobilize informal workers, artisans, and professional bodies, stressing the importance of defending their constitutional rights to vote. He reminded them of the gains made over the past three and a half years, warning against a return to what he termed "dark days" and positioning his government as "workers-friendly."
