Adeleke presents return certificate to Tinubu

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, presenting his certificate of return following his recent re-election. The meeting marked Adeleke's first encounter with the President since securing victory in the governorship election held the previous Saturday.

Adeleke arrived at the villa in the late afternoon, accompanied by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. He was seen in a tweet by his Special Assistant on Digital Media, Olalekan Badmus, shaking hands with President Tinubu. The tweet confirmed that the governor presented his certificate of return after a closed-door meeting.

Earlier on Wednesday, Adeleke had received his certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). During this event, he announced his intention to establish a N500 million endowment fund dedicated to supporting victims of election violence. The certificate was presented by INEC National Commissioner representing the South-West, Prof Kunle Ajayi.

Adeleke, representing the Accord Party, was declared the winner of the governorship election with 511,067 votes, defeating the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who garnered 444,815 votes. This victory follows his 2022 win against former governor Gboyega Oyetola, who is now the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy.
