Advanced Optoelectronics (3362), a major optical lens manufacturer, experienced stock price volatility despite entering the peak season for the optical industry. The company's shares initially rose more than 4% today but later declined, trading around NT$192.5, down 1.03%, with over 8,700 shares traded by mid-morning.

The company's financial performance has been challenging, with a second-quarter net loss of NT$198 million, translating to a loss per share of NT$1.38. For the first half of the year, the cumulative net loss reached NT$269 million, or NT$1.88 per share. The current laptop market conditions are described as relatively flat, and the company is facing increased investment pressure as it enters the CPO (Co-packaged Optics) market.

Advanced Optoelectronics maintains a cautious outlook for its overall operations this year. However, the company holds a positive long-term view, anticipating accelerated growth from its CPO products starting next year. These products are projected to contribute significantly to revenue, potentially reaching 30% of the total.

Recent trading activity shows that foreign investors sold a net total of 531 shares of Advanced Optoelectronics over the past five trading days, while proprietary traders bought 18 shares. The combined net selling by major institutional investors amounted to 513 shares. Notably, day trading volume on the previous Friday reached 5,966 shares, representing 65% of the total volume, indicating a high degree of speculative trading that investors should monitor for potential price fluctuations.
