Aerolíneas Argentinas to add 20 planes in largest fleet renewal in a decade

Aerolíneas Argentinas announced a significant fleet renewal plan, set to incorporate 20 new aircraft between 2027 and 2031. This initiative represents the largest fleet overhaul in a decade, renewing 25% of the airline's total fleet and 60% of its long-haul capacity.

The plan, financed with the company's own resources, was revealed at the Farnborough International Airshow. Agreements have been signed with lessors for several aircraft, including six Airbus A330neos destined for long-haul routes and eight Boeing 737 MAX 10s for domestic and regional services. Four additional Boeing 737 MAX 8s are also in the process of being incorporated.

The new A330neos will feature a three-class configuration with 291 seats, while the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft will enhance domestic and regional operations with new-generation technology. The airline also plans to modernize the cabins of its existing Airbus A330 fleet.

Aerolíneas Argentinas President Fabián Lombardo stated that the agreements signal "a clear message of confidence from the industry." He emphasized that the plan aligns with a long-term strategy focused on efficiency, profitability, and service improvement. The investment was made possible by the airline's improved financial performance, reporting positive operating results of $56.6 million in 2024 and $120.7 million in 2025, the first year without state transfers since the government became the main shareholder.
