Afghanistan to host India for 3-match T20I series in September

Afghanistan and India are scheduled to compete in a three-match T20 International (T20I) cricket series in September, according to a media report. This series would be the first-ever T20I encounter between the two nations.

The Times of India reported that the proposed matches are slated for September 13, 16, and 19. While the specific venues are not confirmed, the report suggests the games will likely be held in New Delhi, India. As of now, neither the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) nor the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued an official statement regarding the series.

This potential T20I series comes as the Afghanistan national team is currently in India. They are scheduled to play a one-off Test match against India on June 6. Following the Test match, both teams are also expected to participate in a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series, scheduled from June 13 to 20.

The upcoming series, if confirmed, would provide a significant platform for Afghanistan's T20I team to test their skills against one of the world's top cricketing nations. Cricket relations between the two countries have seen growth in recent years, with both Test and ODI series being played.
