After a young woman's death, a 16-year-old is suspected of murdering a classmate at his girlfriend's request

Authorities in Corrientes, Argentina, are investigating the death of 16-year-old Cecilia Lazcano, who was found with a fatal neck wound. The case, initially treated as a suicide, has taken a grim turn with the arrest of a 16-year-old male classmate on suspicion of murder.

Investigators began looking into Cecilia's death on July 16 as a "death investigation." Evidence of old self-inflicted injuries on her arms initially supported the suicide hypothesis. However, recent findings, including a series of messages and security camera footage, have led investigators to believe Cecilia was murdered. The focus has now shifted to her male classmate and whether his girlfriend, a fifth-year student at the same school, may have instigated the crime.

According to the arrested minor's account, Cecilia was disoriented and bleeding heavily as she sought help, knocking on doors near the old train station in Alvear. Despite her attempts to signal for assistance, she lost a significant amount of blood, leaving a trail from the attack site to a nearby house. The neighbor alerted the local police, who found Cecilia at the doorstep. She was initially taken to a local hospital before being transferred to Santo Tomé and later to the hospital in Corrientes, where she died.

Forensic analysis concluded that the wounds, including a cut to the neck and wrist, were not self-inflicted but caused by an aggressor. The investigation is now centered on the alleged instigation by the boy's girlfriend, as police reconstruct Cecilia's final hours and explore the dynamics between the students.
