Businessman claims actress ex-partner committed gender-based violence against him

An unexpected twist has emerged in the gender-based violence complaint involving actress Romina Gaetani and her former partner, businessman Luis Cavanagh. When questioned by prosecutors, Cavanagh asserted that he was the one subjected to violence by Gaetani, not the other way around.

Cavanagh, 59, stated that Gaetani assaulted him in the stomach after he had been hospitalized with a blood clot. "I did not inflict any injuries of any kind on her, I have never hit anyone, I care for other human beings. I also want to state that she hit me in the stomach area after I had been hospitalized and with a thrombus. I suffered gender-based violence from her, several times, the couple's psychologist knows. She acknowledged that I never hit her and that she had an attack of rage," Cavanagh told prosecutor María José Basiglio.

The case, which began in late December, centers on events at their shared home in Tortugas Country Club, Pilar. According to the judicial file, Cavanagh is accused of becoming violent after an argument, allegedly assaulting Gaetani physically and dragging her outside the house. The prosecution claims he caused "abrasions on her back, forearm, hip, bruising and a cut on her lower limb – minor injuries – all in a clear context of gender-based violence."

However, Cavanagh denied all accusations during his interrogation. He recounted an incident where he found messages on Gaetani's phone from someone named Fena, with whom she had allegedly had relations. "You lied to me and that was the only thing I had asked you," Cavanagh told Gaetani upon discovering the messages, stating he had asked for a truthful relationship. He claims Gaetani had admitted the previous day that she had had an affair.
