After 'Colombia: Voices for Life' concert, aid collection resumes in Vive Claro; 1,200 tons collected

Following a devastating earthquake on August 10, Colombia has seen a significant outpouring of support, with a major charity concert and ongoing aid collection efforts providing crucial assistance to affected communities. The 'Colombia: Voces por la Vida' concert, held on August 23, successfully gathered over 35 international artists and more than 32,000 attendees, raising an impressive 11 billion pesos (approximately $2.8 million USD).

These funds are earmarked for the victims of the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that struck the country. In addition to the financial contributions, the concert venue, Vive Claro, served as a central hub for collecting humanitarian aid. Although aid collection was temporarily suspended during the concert's setup and execution, it resumed on August 24. To date, over 1,200 tons of essential supplies, including food and water, have been collected at Vive Claro alone.

The collected aid is being channeled to the most impacted regions, which include the departments of Chocó, Caldas, Risaralda, Valle del Cauca, Quindío, Cauca, and Tolima. Risaralda has received the largest portion of aid, totaling 566 tons, followed by Valle del Cauca with 411 tons. At the municipal level, Pereira has received the most aid, with 535 tons distributed. These efforts, coordinated by the First Lady, Ana Lucía Pineda, aim to sustain the flow of donations and support families as the recovery phase begins.
