After Record Losses, Business Union Demands Urgent Concession for Sofia Heating Company

Sofia – A prominent employers' union is pressing the Sofia Municipal Council for the swift concessioning of the city's heating utility, "Toplofikatsia - Sofia." The Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (KRIB), headed by Kiril Domuschiev, has formally called for the municipal council to expedite the process.

This urgent appeal follows the announcement of record losses incurred by the municipal heating company. The financial performance of "Toplofikatsia - Sofia" has raised significant concerns, prompting KRIB to advocate for a private sector partnership through a concession agreement as a solution to its operational and financial challenges.

KRIB's demand emphasizes the need for the fastest possible timeline for granting the concession. The organization believes that bringing in private management and investment is crucial to improving the efficiency and financial stability of the heating company, which serves a significant portion of the capital's residents.
