After Talks with AKP and Bahçeli, İmralı Committee Eyes 'Framework Law' and Öcalan Meeting

Following consultations with the ruling AKP party and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), the DEM Party's İmralı Committee has issued a statement regarding the ongoing peace process. The committee reported engaging in discussions with an AKP delegation on one day and with MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli the next.

According to the statement, the meetings evaluated topics on the agenda related to the Peace and Democratic Society Process. Key points of discussion included the current phase of the process and the necessity of implementing a legal framework swiftly.

The committee emphasized that the discussions also centered on ensuring this legal framework is adequate and responsive to the evolving needs of the process. Both sides exchanged views on these critical aspects, indicating a desire to move forward.

Looking ahead, the İmralı Committee expressed its intention to meet with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı at the earliest opportunity. This planned meeting is seen as a crucial next step following the recent political consultations, aiming to further advance the dialogue and potentially break new ground in the peace efforts.
