AGF strengthens attack with Silkeborg star Callum McCowatt

AGF have added a proven Superliga attacker by signing Callum McCowatt from Silkeborg, where the New Zealand international became a key part of the attack.

Callum McCowatt has long shown that he is one of the profiles in the 3F Superliga, and he has made a big difference for Silkeborg IF for several years. We have come to know him as a technically skilled attacking player with a visionary eye for the game.

The 27-year-old joined Silkeborg from FC Helsingør in summer 2023. He made 111 appearances for the club, scoring 30 goals and supplying 12 assists, before agreeing to a contract with AGF through summer 2030.

AGF football director Carsten V. Jensen praised McCowatt as one of the Superliga’s established profiles. He described him as a technically skilled forward with a strong vision for the game and said his scoring record in Denmark showed his finishing ability.

He is also a skilled finisher, as his scoring average in Denmark proves.

Silkeborg sporting director Jesper Stüker said McCowatt wanted a new opportunity after attracting considerable interest. McCowatt made his New Zealand debut in 2019 and has since played 35 internationals, scoring four goals. He most recently appeared at this summer’s World Cup.

Callum has had a very strong desire for a new opportunity. There has been great interest, and in the end the best solution for the parties involved was to accept AGF’s offer.

The move could produce an immediate reunion. AGF and Silkeborg are due to face each other in the Superliga on Saturday.
