Aguascalientes police travel to Colombia for advanced security training

A contingent of 19 police officers from the state of Aguascalientes, Mexico, has traveled to Barranquilla, Colombia, to participate in specialized training. The officers, comprising 13 men and six women from the State Public Security Secretariat's Highway Division, will engage in activities designed to enhance their skills and knowledge in critical areas of law enforcement.

Their itinerary includes sessions on investigation, innovation, technology, security, police training, scientific research, military advantage, and strategic management. The program is also intended to foster an exchange of experiences and best practices with security institutions from various nations. The officers are scheduled to participate in the National and International Meeting on Research, Innovation, and Technology from August 25 to 27, 2026, following an invitation from the Colombian National Police's Directorate of Police Education.

Antonio Martínez Romo, head of the SSPE, highlighted that the selection of these 19 officers serves as recognition for their daily work protecting the state's highways and entry points. He emphasized that this opportunity will allow them to incorporate new knowledge into Aguascalientes' security efforts. "I am proud that our police officers represent the state corporation in Colombia. I have asked them to uphold the name of Aguascalientes and Mexico, and to represent our institution with dignity, commitment, and professionalism," Martínez Romo stated.

Martínez Romo expressed confidence that the training will strengthen the officers' capabilities and equip them with new tools to continue ensuring the safety of families in Aguascalientes. The acquired knowledge and experiences will be shared with the broader State Police force, contributing to the overall enhancement of security capacities within the state. This initiative aligns with Governor Teresa Jiménez's vision of continuous investment in training and professionalization to better prepare police officers for evolving security challenges.
