Agüero praises Aguirre's work with Mexico, wishes Márquez success

Former Argentine striker Sergio Agüero lauded Javier Aguirre's tenure as Mexico's national team coach, describing him as a "father figure" and a "phenomenon" for his work with the team.

Agüero highlighted Aguirre's ability to elevate the team's performance and competitiveness on the international stage, particularly after Mexico reached the quarterfinals and was dramatically eliminated by England. The Mexican team, under Aguirre's guidance, managed to shift public perception and reconnect with its fanbase, earning widespread recognition for its performance.

"Aguirre is a father to me, he is a phenomenon. Very good, very good; he faced a difficult team, nothing to reproach," Agüero commented in a video shared by Imagen Deportes. Aguirre has since left his coaching position.

Turning his attention to the future, Agüero also expressed his hopes for Rafael Márquez, who has been appointed as the new coach for the Mexican national team. "Rafa was a great player and let's hope he can do well as a coach, right?" the former Manchester City player remarked.

Agüero, who ended his professional playing career due to heart issues, shared his thoughts on the team's trajectory and the transition in leadership.
