Ahbap Association Backing Questioned by Saadet Party Leader

Mahmut Arıkan, the leader of Turkey's Saadet Party, has publicly questioned the financial and operational backing of the Ahbap Association, a well-known charity. Arıkan asserted that the controversy surrounding the organization, particularly allegations of mismanagement or impropriety, should not be placed solely on the shoulders of its founder, musician Haluk Levent.

Speaking to Cumhuriyet newspaper, Arıkan emphasized that if Ahbap has operated for years, it implies the existence of a support system. He specifically referred to unnamed "supervisors" or "guardians" who he believes have enabled the association's activities. "You cannot just blame Haluk Levent and walk away from this issue," Arıkan stated.

Arıkan declared his party's intention to pursue the matter relentlessly. "We will not let go of this issue until those supervisors who have protected Ahbap all these years are brought to light," he vowed. His remarks suggest a political challenge to the association and its perceived protectors within the public sphere.
