Ahmad Zahid assures Johor BN government will align with Federal government

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has pledged that the Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) state government, under the leadership of Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, will remain aligned with the Federal government. Ahmad Zahid, who also chairs BN Malaysia, stressed that Johor BN is an integral part of the broader coalition that forms the current Unity Government.

"Remember, BN is also part of the Unity Government, the Johor government is also a BN government, and BN is part of the Unity Government," he stated during a community program in Iskandar Puteri. "Do not worry. The Johor BN government, led by Datuk Onn Hafiz as state BN chairman, and I as Malaysia BN chairman, will ensure the Johor state government remains aligned with the Federal government."

Ahmad Zahid, also the President of UMNO, addressed concerns about potential disloyalty within the Johor BN ranks, stating that BN candidates would not oppose the Unity Government and would respect decisions made by UMNO and BN leadership at the central level. He refuted claims that the Johor BN leadership under Onn Hafiz was disloyal, noting that the state government was formed before the Federal Unity Government.

He further elaborated on the selection of BN candidates for the Johor state election, emphasizing their capability to win their respective constituencies and their strong track records. UMNO is contesting 37 seats, MCA 15, and MIC four, aiming to maintain political stability in Johor. Zahid urged the campaign machinery to work diligently in the critical 48-hour period leading up to the election.

Zahid encouraged voters to evaluate Onn Hafiz's performance over the past four years, highlighting achievements such as the creation of 80,000 job opportunities for young people in Johor. He promised to create an additional 200,000 new job opportunities for the state's youth in the next term. Additionally, he noted the development of 20,000 low-cost houses during his tenure as Menteri Besar and pledged to facilitate the construction of more.
