Ahn Jae-wook quietly chose a vasectomy after his wife said she could not have a third child

Actor Ahn Jae-wook responded to his wife’s struggles with pregnancy in a way that even she did not expect: he quietly underwent a vasectomy, musical theatre actress Choi Hyun-joo said on the television program “What Are We Leaving Behind?”

Choi said her first two pregnancies brought severe morning sickness and difficult recoveries after childbirth. After she told her husband that a third child would be too difficult, she said, he had the procedure without telling her. “I was really shocked,” she said.

She also recalled that Ahn quit smoking immediately after she told him she had never regarded a smoker as a potential romantic partner. The pair first became close after meeting as co-stars, and Choi said Ahn confessed his feelings during their first rehearsal period.
