Thailand's businesses are demonstrating increased digital maturity, achieving a medium level for the first time as the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) accelerates. The Thailand Digital Outlook 2026 survey reveals a significant rise in the average digital maturity score to 2.12 out of 4, up from 1.56 in 2025.
This improvement reflects substantial gains in data-driven business practices and enhanced cybersecurity capabilities. The survey, which polled 834 digital entrepreneurs nationwide, highlights Thailand's momentum towards a digital economy. Cybersecurity, in particular, saw the strongest improvement, climbing 1.25 points to 2.34, followed by digital technology adoption at 2.08 and digital workforce capability at 2.04.
However, the report also points to persistent weaknesses in digital product and service development, which saw a slight decline. This suggests a continued need for greater innovation within Thai businesses. While all company sizes have reached medium digital maturity, large enterprises remain the most advanced, though their score slightly decreased from the previous year.
AI is leading the charge in advanced technology adoption, with 21.2% of businesses implementing it, followed closely by blockchain and big data analytics. Currently, 61% of respondents have adopted AI in some form, though most are in the early stages of experimentation or pilot projects. Marketing is the most common application for AI, utilized by 39.2% of businesses, followed by business operations and IT.
The study found the average digital maturity level of businesses rose to 2.12 out of 4 from 1.56 in 2025, reflecting significant improvements in data-driven business practices and cybersecurity capabilities.
