Rüdiger Foghelbach, Engineering Manager, noted that cyberattack attempts are doubling year-over-year and could potentially triple, as AI tools are used by both legitimate businesses and cybercriminals. The country's status as an international banking hub makes it a prime target. Carolina Velasco, country manager for Fortinet Panama, reported approximately 45 trillion cyberattack attempts in 2025, with Panama experiencing 1.9 trillion in the first half of 2026 alone.
