AIICO Insurance Warns Public against Deals With Former Agent

AIICO Insurance Plc has issued a stern warning to the public regarding its former agent, Obinna Adolphus Nwosu. The company announced that Nwosu's appointment has been terminated and that he is currently engaged in a sustained campaign of false and misleading allegations directed at various stakeholders.

AIICO Insurance highlighted that following the termination of Nwosu's agency, a public notice was published in national newspapers on June 26, 2025, explicitly cautioning customers and the public against conducting any further business with him on behalf of AIICO. Despite this warning, Nwosu has persisted in circulating fabricated narratives about the company through multiple channels, including digital platforms and direct communications.

The company expressed concern that Nwosu's persistent and increasingly aggressive efforts to disseminate these claims could inflict unwarranted damage on AIICO's reputation and cause unnecessary anxiety among its employees, customers, and other stakeholders. AIICO unequivocally stated that these allegations are false and should be treated with extreme caution.

Rather than engaging in a public dispute or a "trial in the court of public opinion," AIICO Insurance has opted to address the matter through legal channels. The company has initiated a defamation lawsuit against Nwosu at the Lagos State High Court. AIICO stated it will not be drawn into a public exchange with a former agent who continues to make unsubstantiated claims while the case is before the courts.
