Air China to launch flights to Iceland

Starting October 26, travelers will have a new, exotic option to fly from Copenhagen to Reykjavik, thanks to Chinese airline Air China. The carrier is set to launch a new route connecting Beijing, Copenhagen, and Reykjavik, according to the Iceland Review, citing the Chinese embassy in Iceland.

The flight will make a stopover in Copenhagen lasting over two hours. Notably, Air China possesses "fifth freedom" rights, allowing it to sell tickets for the segment between Denmark and Iceland exclusively. This provides a direct alternative for travelers between these two Nordic capitals.

Data from Travel Dealz suggests the route will be operated by an Airbus A330 long-haul aircraft. This plane is configured with 271 economy seats and 30 business class seats featuring lie-flat functionality, arranged in a 2+2+2 configuration. Flights are scheduled for Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Currently, Icelandair and SAS operate multiple daily direct flights between Copenhagen and Reykjavik. Air China aims to compete by offering economy class round-trip tickets starting from 359 euros, with business class fares beginning at 750 euros.
