Air conditioner installer dies after tenant stabbing; murder charge sought

A 60-year-old air conditioner installer has died after being fatally stabbed by a tenant in Cheonan, South Korea, during a dispute over installation work. The incident, which initially led to the installer being critically injured, resulted in his death on the morning of April 4th.

Police have now changed the charge against the 50-year-old tenant from attempted murder to murder and have applied for an arrest warrant. The altercation occurred on April 3rd around 2:40 PM in a multi-family dwelling in the Bongmyeong-dong area of Cheonan's Dongnam-gu district.

According to initial investigations, the dispute began when the tenant complained about the mess made during the air conditioner installation. When the installer attempted to leave the premises after halting the work, the tenant became enraged and allegedly attacked him with a knife.

Emergency services, alerted by a report, found the installer collapsed and in cardiac arrest, having sustained stab wounds. The tenant also suffered minor injuries. Both were transported to the hospital, where the installer succumbed to his injuries despite receiving emergency surgery.
