Aiyedatiwa approves appointment of new Ondo Head of Service

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the appointment of Chief Segun Odusanya as the new Head of the Public Service for the state. This significant transition is set to take effect from June 6, 2026, succeeding Mr Bayo Phillips, who is retiring from service.

Chief Odusanya was born on 6th February, 1967, into the family of Venerable and Mrs Emmanuel Odusanya (both of blessed memory). For his primary and secondary education, he attended St. Peter’s Primary School, Ile-Oluji, and Gboluji Anglican Grammar School between 1972 and 1983.

The announcement was made via a statement issued by the Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Mr Ebenezer Adeniyan. Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to the outgoing Head of Service, Mr Phillips, for his dedicated contributions to the state's development and extended well wishes for his future endeavors.

Governor Aiyedatiwa also called upon Chief Odusanya to utilize his extensive experience to drive the administration's "OUR EASE" agenda towards its objectives. Chief Odusanya brings a wealth of experience to the role, having joined the Ondo State Public Service in September 1995. He has served in various capacities, including Permanent Secretary in multiple ministries and agencies, and currently chairs the Forum of Permanent Secretaries in Ondo State.

In continuation of his education, he attended Obafemi Awolowo University (then University of Ife), from where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture (B. Agric.) in 1989. He returned to the same prestigious institution for his Post-Graduate Diploma in Management Studies, which he obtained in 1992. In furtherance of his quest for more knowledge, he gained admission to the University of Ado-Ekiti in 1998 to pursue his Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), which he obtained in the year 2000.

Odusanya's educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture from Obafemi Awolowo University and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Ado-Ekiti. His career progression highlights a deep understanding of public administration and service delivery within the state.

Chief Odusanya joined the Ondo State Public Service in September 1995 and served in various ministries and agencies until his appointment as a Permanent Secretary in 2019. He served at various times as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Ondo State Civil Service Commission, Ministry of Transport, and currently in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. He is currently the Chairman of the Forum of Permanent Secretaries in Ondo State.
