Aiyedatiwa Launches Ondo Pay in New Push for Digital Governance

Ondo State has launched Ondo Pay, an artificial intelligence-enabled system intended to bring the state’s human resources and payroll operations into one secure digital environment.

The platform combines employee records, salary computation, approvals, reporting, payroll processing and pension migration. Its SmartApps AI mobile application will allow authorised civil servants to view payslips, check salary and deduction details, update permitted personal information, submit requests and receive payroll notifications without repeatedly visiting payroll or administrative offices.

At the launch, Ondo State Head of Service Chief Segun Odusanya said the platform’s success would depend on the quality of the information entered into it. “Good governance requires good information, and good information begins with reliable records,” he said.

Odusanya said the system would improve personnel records, workforce planning and decision-making, while reducing delays linked to traditional procedures. He called on permanent secretaries, department heads, personnel officers and other stakeholders to ensure that the platform is properly used, maintained and continuously improved.

The system will use controlled access, authentication, auditable workflows and Bank Verification Number integration to improve oversight of personnel spending. The government also expects it to reduce manual calculations, paperwork, payroll errors, duplicate or non-genuine records and unauthorised payments. The initiative forms part of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s effort to use technology to strengthen government institutions and public-service delivery.
