Ajax 1-0 Olympiacos: Chances created, but goals were missing

Olympiacos suffered a 1-0 defeat against Ajax in their fourth preseason friendly, held in Amsterdam. The Greek club had chances to score throughout the match but ultimately lacked the finishing touch, with Envarsten netting the decisive goal for the Dutch side in the 80th minute.

Despite the loss, several Olympiacos players impressed. Goalkeeper Popovic put in a strong performance with significant saves, while Smaljic was solid defensively during his time on the field. Roca made his debut for the club, playing the final quarter of the match.

Olympiacos started the game aggressively, creating their first major chance in the 5th minute when Tsikinho stole the ball and passed to Yaremchuk, whose shot was saved by Ajax goalkeeper Paes. Ajax responded with their own opportunities, including a shot from Berghuis in the 13th minute that Popovic tipped over the bar, and a dangerous cross from Rordinei in the 30th minute that the Ajax keeper punched away.

The second half continued with a similar rhythm. Olympiacos had another significant chance in the 68th minute with Yaremchuk breaking through the defense, but his shot was stopped by the Ajax goalkeeper. Ajax came close to scoring in the 75th minute when Kariso's shot hit the post.

Olympiacos's next friendly matches are scheduled for July 24 against Antwerp and July 25 against AZ Alkmaar.
