Al Harthy targets Spa 24 Hours success after Monza podium

Omani racing driver Ahmad Al Harthy is targeting a strong performance at the prestigious Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa, seeking to capitalize on the momentum from his recent podium finish in Italy.

Al Harthy, along with teammates Calan Williams and Javier Sagrera, secured third place in the Bronze Cup at the Monza circuit just three weeks prior. This result saw them climb from eighth in class and 47th overall to a respectable 13th position.

It’s amazing to be back at Spa this week for the 24 hours, it is by far the biggest GT3 race in the world and an event where we have enjoyed a lot of success over the years.

The 24 Hours of Spa, the third round of the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup season, is considered the most significant race of the year. It is a premier event in global GT3 endurance racing, attracting a large grid of 70 cars.

We really have had some incredible results at Spa and I know the guys at Oman Racing by Century Motorsport are focused and hugely determined to aim high for our first 24 hours together.

Currently sitting fifth in the Bronze Cup standings, Al Harthy and his Oman Racing by Century Motorsport team are only five points shy of the top three. For the demanding 24-hour race, the team has expanded its driver lineup to four, with Brazilian driver Pedro Ebrahim joining the existing trio.

Al Harthy, a former Pro-Am class winner at Spa in 2019 and a podium finisher in 2017, plans to leverage his extensive experience at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Pre-event practice is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, June 23rd, with the aim of establishing a solid foundation for the challenging race weekend.

The performance and result at Monza was fantastic, while we didn’t have the quickest package out there our team work and great strategy made the difference. That will be important this weekend, along with strong reliability, and so we’ll use all of the practice and test sessions as constructively as we can to prepare for the most challenging race of the season.
