Al-Ittihad enters race for Ziyech as Wydad dispute intensifies

Hakim Ziyech’s future at Wydad Casablanca is increasingly uncertain, with Libyan club Al-Ittihad reportedly preparing to take advantage of the dispute.

Ziyech was recently left out of Wydad’s training camp in Agadir by coach Paulo Sergio. The Moroccan international believes club president Ibrahim Al-Asri was behind the decision after Ziyech refused to accept a reduction in his salary.

According to Africa Foot, Al-Ittihad has made a substantial financial offer and wants to move quickly. The club is reportedly prepared to offer attractive terms to the former Chelsea and Ajax player, but no final decision has been made.

The disagreement has widened into a broader dispute involving financial, sporting and disciplinary issues. Several meetings have failed to produce an agreement. Ziyech has also used social media to accuse Al-Asri of lying.

Wydad wants to end the standoff, while Ziyech is seeking what he regards as his contractual rights. If the disagreement cannot be resolved, he could take the matter to FIFA, according to the report cited by Arab Times.
