Al-Jahra Stuns Al-Arabi as Al-Nasr Continues Winning Run

Al-Jahra turned a losing position into a dramatic 2-1 victory over Al-Arabi, scoring the winning goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time at Thamer Stadium.

Al-Arabi took the lead in the 29th minute through Palestinian forward Zaid Qambar. Al-Jahra responded after halftime, with Cameroonian striker Chirest Aflana equalizing in the 65th minute before Abdullah Al-Dahes completed the comeback.

The result gave Al-Jahra its first win of the season after a 3-2 defeat by Al-Shabab in the opening round. Al-Arabi suffered its first loss after drawing 1-1 with Kuwait Club.

Al-Jahra coach Ahmed Abdulkarim said the victory came at “an important and appropriate time.” He credited the introduction of foreign players and substitutes after halftime with improving the team’s performance and helping it exploit weaknesses in Al-Arabi’s play. Abdulkarim acknowledged that Al-Arabi had controlled much of the first half, and said he urged his players to stay calm and improve their concentration.

Al-Nasr also maintained its perfect start by beating Al-Fahaheel 2-1 at Ali Sabah Al-Salem Stadium. Aymen Lakjaa scored a sixth-minute penalty for Al-Nasr, and Hazem Al-Haj Hassan doubled the lead two minutes into the second half. Vitor Da Silva pulled one back for Al-Fahaheel in the 69th minute, but Al-Nasr held on for its second consecutive victory. Al-Fahaheel has lost both matches and remains without a point.
